My Training Diary - March 2005
 

30th Mar

Run.    Distance - 3.0miles/ 4.8Km     Time - 31.10mins

I didn't train at all over Easter, but this run felt very good. I ran towards Backwell, just past the Leisure Centre and then back. It was wet and miserable, but I feel really refreshed now.

23rd Mar

Swim.    Distance - 1,100m     Time - 28.19mins

I decided to do some sprints today.
250m warm up
50m sprints with 20sec rest between each. I did 5 sets and was absolutely knackered!
250m front crawl, normal pace
350m warm down.
 

22nd Mar

Turbo Trainer.    Distance - 10.4 miles/ 16.46Km     Time - 45.06mins

I did a 45mins session with the BFL workout thrown in at 20mins.
I took this fairly gently to keep my HR down.
Ave HR - 127
Max HR - 156
 

21st Mar

Run.    Distance - 3.2miles/ 5.0Km     Time - 35.24mins

I set myself the target of a 5Km run and boy was it hard work!
I ran into Backwell to the Post Office and back. The return leg was hard work up the small hill, but very pleased to have done this.
I now have a half race bench mark for the run.

18th Mar

Swim.    Distance - 1,500m     Time - 35.04mins

The aim was to swim race distance of 1,500m doing front crawl non-stop.
I took it fairly gently and mission accomplished!!!
I am over the moon. Time was slow and at half way I wanted to stop. I also nearly stopped at 1,000m but kept going and before I knew it, I had swum 60 lengths all in front crawl. My arms now ache, but really chuffed.
 
 

16th Mar

Turbo Trainer.    Distance - 10.1 miles/ 16.2Km     Time - 45.06mins

The aim was to do 45mins on the turbo trainer so I stayed in 2nd gear to keep my HR down.
This session felt really good and though my HR did go up to 147 I'm pleased.

15th Mar

Turbo Trainer.    Distance - 8.2 miles/13.13Km     Time - 35.09mins

After a company weekend away with too much drinking and not enough sleep, I took it fairly steady this morning.
5 mins warm up
Then 27 mins slightly harder
3 mins cool down.
Ave HR - 134
Max HR - 146
 

11th Mar

Run.    Distance - 3.0 miles/4.8Km     Time - 32.45mins

It was a lovely morning and I was going to do the same run as Weds but ended up going a bit further.
I headed left onto the A370 towards Bristol and went down towards Barrow Guerney did a lap of the Smiley Miley loop.
I was only managing 11.10 min miles so not exactly quick!
I was pleased to have run all the way.

9th Mar

Run.    Distance - miles/ Km     Time - 31.05mins

It was a lovely morning and so I decided to go for a run. I set myself the target of 30mins.
I headed left onto the A370 towards Bristol and went down into Farleigh Green and as far as the 2nd turning.
On the way back I went down Station Road and did 2 laps of Bourton Mean before heading home along the A370. I was pleased to have run most of the way, with the occasional walk as my HR hit 177!!

8th Mar

Swim.    Distance - 1,000m     Time - 30.06mins

This was my 1st swim for a while and I felt it!
I took it fairly gently and was pleased to put together a 400m session of crawl. I didn't think I could manage the final 50m so I was happy.
The prospect of doing 1,500m at London in August still seems a long way off.
 

7th Mar

Run/Walk!    Distance - miles/Km     Time - 47.00mins

I went for a wonderful fast walk in the countryside this morning.
I was planning on running at lunchtime, but just didn't get the time.
 

2nd Mar

Turbo Trainer.    Distance - 7.9 miles/12.70Km     Time - 30.06mins

I went for it slightly more today.
5 mins warm up
Then 22 mins slightly harder
3 mins cool down. My legs are slightly sore but I'm pleased to have worked harder today.

1st Mar

Turbo Trainer.    Distance - 7.5 miles/12.03Km     Time - 30.17mins

My 1st session for a long while. Having recovered from my throat and cough I did a 30 min session on my turbo trainer in the garage.
5 mins warm up
Then 22 mins gentle
3 mins cool down. I kept my HR fairly low.
Ave HR - 139
