13th October

Distance - 4.0 miles    Time - 37.42mins

I am over the moon with this run. This is a milestone for me. My first ever run where every mile is under 10min mile pace! I'm realy pleased to have some pace now. I'm not going to try to use on Sunday but so nice to see the results from my training starting to show.

15th October

Distance - 3.0 miles    Time - 31.23mins

This was my final run before the half marathon so was just a steady paced 3 miler. My watch was playing up and kept losing connection with satellites but luckily by now I know the turning point so it was fine.

18th October

Distance - 13.1 miles    Time - 2hrs:16.12mins

What an incredible day!!! I've been training for this since June, so only just over 4 months and I had to have nearly a month off when I hurt my back and a week off during the switch over to Orthosis insoles which I ended up NOT using! So really just 3 month of trainign and it is just amazing what the body can achieve.

We were lucky with the weather. It was a lovely sunny day, albeit a very cold start. I took it steady and in fact started in the 2hr:30 group. 10min mile pace would have been a 2hr:10 time but I didn't want to over do it.

It was a good plan as I picked off quite a few people and caught loads up in the last few miles who I recognised. My gorgeous wife and daughter and my mate's daughter were fantastic support. They were at 3 seperate locations along the course and it was just such a boost to see them each time.

Martin and I raised just over £2,000 for Cancer Research UK for this event and we hope it might increase next week as we follow up with some people who have not yet supported us.

It was an emotional finish as I met up with Jenni Kerslake who lost her husband to cancer nearly 2 years ago. It's hard to cry and breathe! Well done Jenni today; Rob would have been so proud of you xxx

I thought of Dad loads today and blew him a few kisses into the sky. This one was for you dad. I miss you and wish you could be here to share it all with us.
