My Cardiff Half Marathon Training Diary - June - October 2009

WEEK 16

14th September

Distance - 7.0 miles    Time - 1hr:14.40mins

I can't believe what a difference 2 weeks make. My ist 7 mile run time was 1hr:21 and I beat that today by 7 mins!!

This run was hard mainly because my right foot and left achilles were both sore. My feet began aching after the first mile and I didn't really feel comfortable until the 6th mile. I had no idea of time and I didn't really what a good pace this run had been until I downlaoded the times tonight!

Really pleased, but glad I'm seeing my physio on Weds. Hoepfully he can work his magic. This race is going to end up costing me a fortune!

18th September

Distance - 3.0 miles    Time - 31.11mins

My session with my physio worked wonders and he managed to sort out my shin splints and gently relaxed my left calf and achilles.

I also got my RS Scan Orthoses insoles for my trainers on Tuesday. I spent a couple of days wlaking round the house and round the block in them.

I went out for a gentle run to see how they were. My feet still feel sore and tight in them so I set a loose target of either 2 miles or 4 miles. I ended up doing 3 miles. My legs felt good but my feet were really sore and still are now, some hours later.

20th September

Distance - 0.0 miles    Time - 00.00mins

I didn't run today as my left foot was still quite sore from new insoles and I spoke to my mate Gibby and he said rest will do me just as much good, if in fact more good than over doing it with training.
It's so weird, the old me would have used any excuse to get out of training but the new me was feeling guilty all weekend!!
